This research focuses on the cognitive analysis of metaphors related to the domain of martyrdom in the discourse of Imam Khamenei. In this linguistic study, the statements of Ayatollah Khamenei were collected and categorized around the theme of martyrdom through the website dedicated to preserving his works and disseminating his values. The aim of this research is to determine how martyrdom, as one of the sacred concepts, is metaphorically conceptualized in the discourse of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution. The examination of the data revealed that in the discourse of the Supreme Leader, the conceptual domain of martyrdom is constructed through metaphors such as fragrance/light/color/flame, path, home, battlefield, drink, mountain peak, trench, tree/tree roots, and personification, and is predominantly intertextually connected with the verses of the Holy Quran. Since metaphors vary across languages and cultures, by analyzing the cognitive metaphors used by the Supreme Leader, the prevailing attitudes in his individual and social discourse can be examined. Through the analysis of these metaphors, the cultural identity of Iranian society can be identified, and by studying the cognitive metaphors of the Supreme Leader, his intellectual content and cognitive framework can be expanded within society.
